These people are also involve in one way or another in this field of disaster informatics:

• Jesse Robbins (O'Reilly Radar) & Mikel Maron (Mapufacture) gave a talk on Disaster Tech: What is working and what is coming at the 2008 O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference as well as a blog critique about it.
• Paul Currion's blog post, the perils of the distributed approach, discusses the effectiveness and challenges of using Web 2.0 technologies to organize "virtual" volunteers during disasters
• David J. Wild (Indiana University School of Informatics) is working on several projects on disaster informatics.  He is also the co-author of a book chaper on "Information technology in times of crisis: Considering knowledge management for disaster management"
• Joe Mertz (CMU) teaches the course Technology and Policy for Disaster and Humanitarian Response
• Jeff Jarvis is not working in this field per se but his seminal post Recovery 2.0: A call to convene advocates to using distinct web 2.0 tools to help in disasters
• Enrico L. Quarantelli is a founding director of the Disaster Research Center and currently a professor emeritus in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware.  In one of this papers he warn us about the pitfalls of overly relying on technology during disasters.

• The Institute for Disaster Informatics is the applied research element of the Western Disaster Center and has been established to manage the Western Disaster Center's applied research activities related to computers, communications, information, information systems and information technology as applied to all aspects of disaster and emergency management.
